  • When is the best time to begin preparation for HPAT?
When to begin HPAT preparation is a difficult question and one that is very individual. Many students prefer to get started early given that: a) they realise they are going to be exceptionally busy in their final year and b) they realise how important the HPAT is (i.e. equal to or even more important than final exams) A small proportion of our students are in year 5 or below. Getting started early means reducing the stress/workload in year 6 when students will have less time for HPAT study. ThPopular

  • Are the drills and Eureka easier than the HPAT?
The drills and Eureka are designed to be easier than the HPAT and the MedEntry practice exams, because they are designed to help you develop your skills. You will find the practice exams much harder, as they are designed to closely simulate HPAT.Few readers
  • I have a MedEntry package - how do I start to prepare for the HPAT?
For information on how to prepare for HPAT, please go to your Learn section and work through Module 1: How to prepare for HPAT. This will help you plan your preparation, and avoid common HPAT preparation pitfalls. The most common mistake made by students is to save practice exams, and focus on the QBank. You should complete your first practice exam early, and space out your practice exams from now until HPAT.Few readers
  • How much time should I devote to HPAT preparation?
The amount of time you devote to HPAT preparation depends on you - in particular your current abilities, level of motivation and other commitments. Generally, MedEntry advises students to spend about 10% of study time preparing for HPAT in the few months leading up to the exam. For example, if you spend a total of thirty hours per week studying, about three hours per week should be set aside for HPAT preparation.Few readers
  • I am having trouble with a question. What should I do?
If you are having trouble with a question, the best way to learn is to reflect on the question and persist with it. This is far better than simply being ‘told’ the answer, as you are more likely to develop skills that will help with subsequent questions. If you have tried your hardest and still cannot grasp the question, the next best option is to discuss it with others. This will allow you to voice and examine your thought processes, and obtain feedback on your thoughts from another person. YouFew readers
  • What should I do when I've finished everything on the Online Platform?
Very few students finish everything on the online platform. Those who do are generally the students who start preparing early, in year 10, or those who rush through the resources and do not take time to review, reflect on and discuss questions.  If you have enough time, you should ideally be spending at least 20 hours on each practice exam. After completing the exam, you should thoroughly review each question and discuss difficult questions with a group of friends. If you feel you have finishedFew readers
